Sun, sea, and sand – the Indian Ocean’s most beautiful islands
Bounded by India, the Malay Peninsula, Australia and Africa, the Indian Ocean is home to some of the world’s most beautiful locations. Hosts to stunning white sandy beaches and blue waters, these islands are a hot spot for tourists looking for luxury and relaxation.

Maldives

A dream destination for most, the Maldives is comprised of a thousand islands, known for their clear emerald waters and white beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see. Most notably, the iconic luxurious overwater bungalows are perfect for tranquillity. Allowing you moments of peace as you watch the surrounding calm waters.

Only 400,000 inhabit the islands (around the size of Cardiff) and visiting was banned from 1984 to 2009, so it makes for the perfect escape to soak up the local culture and lifestyle.

For water sport enthusiasts it’s a hub for all sorts of diverse marine life, but the most remarkable has to be the whale shark, the biggest fish in the ocean!

Seychelles

Located to the east of Kenya, the Seychelles are made up of 115 islands with lush tropical vegetation, beautiful beaches, and a wide variety of marine life.

To explore the mountainous regions, visit the islands of the Mahé group. The overall aspect of the islands is lush tropical vegetation, with high hanging gardens overlooking silver-white beaches and clear lagoons. Ideal for hiking trips and to make the most of the stunning natural views.

For the nature buffs, the Seychelles are home to roughly 200 plant species, 80 of which are unique to the islands, including screw pines, jellyfish trees, the bois rouge, and the famous coco de mer.

Mauritius

Whilst the island of Mauritius is known for its azure waters and sprawling beaches, there’s much more to it than meets the eye. Surrounded by a ring of dormant volcanoes, streams, waterfalls and rivers it makes for a stunning location to explore nature at its best. It’s not only the landscape that is a must see. Though it’s relatively small, its population is dense with more than 1.2 million people residing there. The Sega is the regions local music and native dance style, sung in Creole it traces back to its origin to the slave population and makes for a stunning show.

If that’s not enough to convince you, the legendary American writer Mark Twain once quoted ‘Mauritius was made first and then heaven, and heaven was copied after Mauritius’. Which we think sums it up pretty well!
